This past Monday night, Get Fresh Produce, Inc. made its television debut on the latest episode of Fox’s The Chicago Code. Can you spot the Get Fresh Tomato Truck in the background? Talk about being at the right place at the right time!
As many people are aware from the news, the past week has been extremely rough for produce supplies coming out of Mexico, as the aftermath of the freeze from late last week unfolds. Growers are trying to salvage as much product as possible, but quality and availability has become a major issue.
More important, we are seeing suppliers pro-rate product to us currently filling about 30% of the product ordered. We expect to continue to see tighter supply and the highest prices on this dwindling supply in 50 years. Current product in tight supply includes: celery, cucumbers, eggplant, lettuce, limes, green peppers, red peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, and tomatoes. We will continue to post listings of affected produce.

Take a look at the Asparagus fields in Mexico. With recent freezing temperatures, no planning or harvesting is expected in the near future. Product will be in extremely tight supply.
